Reminder to step outside and breathe.

 
 

It’s just one of those days. One of those days when I didn’t get enough sleep, my body doesn’t feel up to par, work is stressful, and I’m all around struggling.

I know exactly what will bring me back to Earth when I can feel the frustration, anger, and tears mounting: stepping outside and just being with nature.

After a stressful meeting, I slipped on my shoes and stepped out into the yard alone: no dog, no phone, just me and my camera.

I sat by the creek and my favorite hawthorn trees until I felt my body begin to relax. I got a little curious and started testing my plant identifying prowess (everything is a bit overgrown right now and not much is blooming so it’s getting harder to tell what’s what).

Eventually, I felt like I could go back inside and get back to work.

I couldn’t have been outside for more than 15 minutes. Sometimes all we need is break, a breath of fresh air, some sunshine, just a moment alone in nature. After all, we aren’t machines, we’re human beings.
